Democrats Destroyed Joe Biden all on Their Own, Trump Need Not Have Bothered
Oh, the irony. Trump is facing the potential demise of his presidency all because he saw Joe Biden as such a threat he set into motion as many of his tentacles as possible to unearth so-called corruption. He asked everybody — the Ukraine, Australia? And now, China. Poor guy. Talk about your dumb luck. If he knew democrats like I know democrats, if he was really in the bubble of magical thinking and unrealistic strategy goals he’d have realized that the democrats were busy sabotaging their own frontrunner. Yes, that’s right. We FATFUCKED OURSELVES.
Elizabeth Warren is going to be the nominee and as Trump knows, as Putin knows, as anyone who looks at history and carefully watches the polls know — she is no threat to Trump. “She’s just too easy,” he once said about her. No, even Vladimir Putin was worried about Biden. Why, because he knew Biden could actually win. Yes, Biden could do the impossible — take out a one term president during a GOOD economy by drawing white working class voters, black voters in the south and winning states that democrats don’t win regularly, like Florida. All Biden had to do was win Pennsylvania (his hometown) and Florida and he’s won the election. But Biden is an “old white guy” and to democrats that wasn’t going to do. No, they needed something fresh, someone who could INSPIRE them.
This is sort of like being a desert and having only one car to take you out of the desert. The car runs on regular gas, is a boat. There is nothing cool about it but it not only runs, it fits everyone inside and takes everyone to safety. Democrats don’t want that reliable junker. No, they want the cool car, the electric, plugin Prius that may or may not make it to safety but oh how great it feels to drive in it. That is the chance they’re taking. Getting into a plugin hybrid that feels a little like the future but whose journey is less assured than the clunker that you know can get you out.
Because that is what we’re facing with Trump. Even with impeachment looming. We’re facing the kind of disaster a person stuck in the desert would face, especially with dwindling survival gear. It’s shocking, really, that even after watching the non-stop attacks on Trump for three solid years, where every complaint is a level ten red alert emergency, that it still wasn’t good enough to get into the car that everyone knew could get us all to safety. It wasn’t enough because for the democrats they live in the shadow of greatness, always.
In 1972, the democrats were ratfucked by the Nixon dirty trixters into nominating George McGovern. He was the cool college kids choice. He was the guy Warren Beatty liked. He was the anti-Nixon. He was the future. He was also, Nixon knew, easy pickings. Edmund Muskie and even Hubert Humphrey would have been harder for Nixon to beat. But McGovern? He knew voters would go with Nixon. Having won an extremely close election in 1968 (due to division on the left) Nixon needed a decisive victory. And he got one. A landslide, winning every state except Massachusettes. Nixon’s only regret? That he focused only on his presidency, not on congress, which fell to the democrats, and eventually helped lead to his resignation two years later.
In 2016 Trump, with the help of Facebook, Cambridge Analytica and a really sharp strategy to win a narrow path in the swing states, beat Hillary by a narrow margin. In 2020 he, like Nixon, and W. Bush who beat Gore with a narrow margin in 2000, needs a decisive victory to fully take control of America. That is the end goal. Why do you suppose he spent $10 million on an ad to sabotage Biden? $10 MILLION. Do you think he’s that scared of Elizabeth Warren?
Warren has earned her spot in the race as poll leader but she’s had help. Democrats and the media have been ratfucking Biden and boosting Warren for months now. Clickbait dictates positive Warren stories get hits and negative Biden stories get hits. Just like negative Hillary stories got hits and positive Bernie stories got hits in 2016. Biden has been accused of everything from being a sexual harasser to being a racist and for the longest time, none of it stuck. Biden’s worst problem was his age and his “gaffes” but they weren’t really dinging his dominance until lately. Trump’s suggestion of impropriety has democrats running scared, unable to be strong enough or smart enough to stand by their imperfect frontrunner. Even Bill Maher was having panic attacks about it, suggesting democrats force Biden to resign. It is all too familiar if you know the 1972 election.
Like 1972, 2020 is a one term election. Democrats have only managed to win one of those once and that was only because HW Bush’s economy was failing and Clinton had a better plan. In 1980, Jimmy Carter’s economy was failing, so badly that Ted Kennedy primaried Carter. Reagan came along and had a better plan. What do these two have in common? It’s the economy, stupid. What is Elizabeth Warren’s platform? Not the economy, stupid. It’s bigger government, higher taxes, and unflinching “BIG STRUCTURAL CHANGE.” That change didn’t win the primary with Bernie Sanders in 2016 and it probably isn’t going to win against Trump in 2020.
There is one narrow path Warren has, but it’s a long shot. She doesn’t have the support of the black voters in the South yet, and that’s crucial to winning the presidency, and she doesn’t have the white working class voters — where Biden polls higher than her even in her home state of Massachusetts. What Warren has, though, is that she can be the warrior for anti-corruption and ethics. If the impeachment of Donald Trump convinces Americans to change horses mid-stream because Trump’s behavior is so corrupt and his administration so corrupt they’d elect Warren just to bring dignity back to America, the same way they elected Jimmy Carter after Nixon to bring dignity. But be warned. That Carter reign was short lived. Four years later, Ronald Reagan brought greed back — because in America, almost everyone wants to be rich.
Putin had good reason to be threatened by Biden because Biden is part of the Obama coalition, whom Putin had his biggest problem with. That is why he worked so hard to take down Hillary Clinton. Does he have the same problem with Elizabeth Warren? That isn’t as clear. Warren might not have the same warring status with him as Team Obama did. Once she’s the nominee, democrats will have to do everything they can to help her win. It’s a much harder fight, to convince Americans mid-way through a presidency that “big structural change” is what’s needed. History tells us, that unless that change is making everyone richer, it ain’t happening.
A cautionary tale.
